his edition (in transliteration) is otherwise than the earlier ones based on all the manuscripts known and available today. Two of them contain glosses (tippana) on the first four ahnikas of the Yuktidipika which are now edited for the first time, their total number amounting to ca. 400. The edition marks off varttika and bhasya elements of the text from each other; quotations and references to other sources are equally marked and identified as far as possible. The dialectical structure of the YD is further brought into relief by a corresponding subdivision of the text into paragraphs and by adding cross-references wherever a preceding or following part is directly or indirectly referred to.
