This book summarizes the state of art of knowledge of behavioral effects on reproductive endocrine function. An attempt is made to characterize the hypothalamic pulse generator biochemically and to determine factors which influence hypothalamic pulsatility. These new results are then discussed in view of the malfunctioning of the hypothalamic pulse generator in anorectic and bulimic patients. This book offers a new perspective, i.e. from behavior to hormonal mechanisms, unlike most literature dealing with the relationship from the perspective of hormones to behavior
