Working Vacation

Leaving and not saying goodbye was my biggest mistake. She was my best friend. Always there for me. Then my dad got relocated. We moved. And I couldn’t stay in touch. I never thought I’d see her again. Sixteen years later. She’s here. Before me in my boss’ office. She’s grown beyond beautiful. Beyond the girl I once knew. Could things fall back into place as if we never were parted? Maybe? Maybe not? But I’ve got this ache in my chest... I won’t make the same mistake again!
