The book examines these property law consequences which result from death as itself without its being necessary to receive the decedent’s inheritance. It is within these legal consequences that a number of the questions posed are rarely commented on, such as: Does the human corpse have the quality of a chattel? Who is acknowledged to be its owner? What actions does the legislation permit to be carried out with respect to the dead human body? Are there any limitations on the possible ways of burying the descendent? What are the property law consequences of the funeral? Are the so-called “funeral testament” valid? Is the post-mortem reproduction possible and what is the effect of the decedent’s will stated during his lifetime? Examination of the property law status of the dead human body both prior to and subsequent to its burial is made on the base not only of the Bulgarian legislation but the world practice is considered too. The study’s contribution to the international medical law consists in its detailed property law analysis of the great number of questions concerning dead human body.
