With this issue of TCLA, which is multilingual once again after the monographic edition published exclusively in Italian (dedicated to 16th-century Florentine artists), we have decided to pay tribute to a series of female artists of various nations and historical periods. Women whose activity has been investigated too little or only superficially by historiographers. We have therefore proceeded, by means of new and precise archival research, mainly to update bio-bibliographical and art-historical data on a variety of themes: 15th-century copyists and illuminators active in the Monastero del Paradiso in Florence, Italy's first female architect Plautilla Bricci, Sofonisba Anguissola, Grisalda Bianchelli and Adriana Polissena, Asja Lācis, Sella Hasse and Elisabeth Voigt, Růžena Zátková, and – finally – Edmonia Lewis. The issue ends with an interesting study, conducted by Maurizio Rebaudengo, in the archives of the Einaudi publishing house in Turin.
