معرفی کتاب «Understanding EU-NATO Cooperation: How Member-States Matter (Routledge Studies in European Security and Strategy)» نوشتهٔ Nele Marianne Ewers-Peters، منتشرشده توسط نشر Routledge در سال 2021. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.
"This book examines the development of cooperation between the EU and NATO, two key non-state actors in the European security architecture. The work examines the relationship between the EU and NATO by focusing on the perspective of member states. Highlighting the relevance of member states' role in shaping EU-NATO relations, it conceptualises interorganisational cooperation and develops a typology of member states based on four types: advocates, blockers, balancers and neutrals. To apply this typology and analyse member states' specific roles, the analysis considers their foreign and security policy orientations, bilateral relationships with other member states, and contributions to both military operations, and division of labour between the two organisations. The book also examines states' use of political strategies -- such as forum-shopping, hostage-taking and brokering -- that influence the design, evolution and practicalities of cooperation between the EU and NATO. This book will be of much interest to students of European Security and Defence Policy, international organisations, and security studies in general"-- Provided by publisher Cover Endorsement Half Title Title Page Copyright Page Table of Contents Figures Tables Acknowledgements Abbreviations 1 Introduction The EU–NATO Relationship in Perspective Key Challenges and Obstacles Analysing Member States in EU–NATO Cooperation Minilateral Relationships and Groups of Interest Inter-member-state Tensions States’ ‘Schizophrenic’ Behaviour A Note On Sources, Methodology and Typologies Structure of the Book Notes References 2 Theorising Member States in Interorganisational Relations Theorising Interorganisational Relations Defining and Mapping Interorganisational Relations Features of Interorganisational Relations Theorising the Role of Member States Membership and Political Strategies Foreign and Security Policy Orientation Typology of Member States in Interorganisational Relations Conclusions Notes References 3 Advocates: The UK, the US, BeNeLux, the Baltics and Central and Eastern European States Shared Characteristics of Advocates Making Use of Their Membership The United Kingdom The Baltics and Central and Eastern Europe BeNeLux and the United States Contributions to Military Capabilities, Interoperability and Division of Labour Conclusions References 4 Blockers: France, Cyprus, Greece, Ireland and Turkey Shared Characteristics of Blockers Making Use of Their Membership and Political Strategies France: Trapped Between Endorsement and Obstruction The Enduring Problem of the Cyprus–Greece–Turkey Triangle Ireland’s Neutrality as Obstruction Contributions to Military Capabilities, Interoperability and Division of Labour Conclusions Note References 5 Balancers: Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain Shared Characteristics of Balancers Use of Membership and Partnership Networks Germany Italy Portugal and Spain Contributions to Military Capabilities, Interoperability and Division of Labour Conclusions Notes References 6 Neutrals: Austria, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Malta and Sweden Shared Characteristics of Neutrals Single Membership Status and Foreign and Security Policy Orientation Finland, Sweden and Iceland Denmark Austria and Malta Contributions to Military Capabilities, Operations and Division of Labour Conclusions Note References 7 Conclusion and Implications Member States in the EU–NATO Relationship Implications for Future EU–NATO Cooperation Interorganisational Cooperation and Member States: Theoretical Findings Analysing the Role of Member States Beyond EU–NATO Cooperation: Applicability and Generalisation Outlook and Future Research References Appendix A List of Interviews Appendix B List of Official Documents and Strategic Security and Defence Papers Appendix C Overview of Member States’ Participation and Contributions to EU-Led and NATO-Led Military Operations Index This book examines the development of cooperation between the EU and NATO, two key non- state actors in the European security architecture.
