The last two decades have seen a consistent growth in the significance of path integrals. They are useful in quantum as well as statistical mechanics, providing more intuitive and easier methods of handling equations than more commonly-known treatments. However, the method is still greeted with skepticism. Where has the operator ordering problem gone? Do polar coordinates work in PI, despite the fact that they cannot exist in the canonical operator formalism? Is it possible to obtain a quantum mechanics on the sphere by inserting a delta function into the unconstrained formula? This book addresses and solves these fundamental issues, and covers more recent topics, such as the lattice fermion problem in quantum theory and the Monte Carlo method in statistical mechanics Uncovering Cp Violation Deals With One Of The Crucial Ingredients Necessary To Create The Observed Matter-antimatter Asymmetry Of The Universe. There Is One Force In Nature Which Acts Differently On Matter And Antimatter. This Phenomenon Was Discovered In Decays Of Neutral K Mesons In 1964. In A Long Series Of Ever Refined Experiments Between 1964 And 2001, It Was Shown That This Force Emerges As A Part Of The Weak Interaction Between Quarks (direct Cp Violation). It Is Due To Flavor Mixing Of Three Quark Families. This Picture Was Confirmed By Experiments On Neutral B Mesons, Which Also Demonstrated Cp Violation In 2001. The Book Describes The Experiments That Uncovered The Nature Of Cp Violation And The Phenomenology Describing Cp Violation. Introduction -- Symmetries -- Mixing And Decay Of Neutral Mesons -- Models Of Cp Violation -- The Neutral K Meson System -- The Neutral B Meson System -- Weak Quark Mixing And The Ckm Matrix -- Conclusion. Konrad Kleinknecht. Includes Bibliographical References And Index. Description of experiments that uncovered the nature of CP violation and the phenomenology describing CP violation. The author Konrad Kleinknecht received the Leibniz award of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft 1990 and the Gentner-Kastler prize and medal of SFP and DPG 2001. One of the surprising facts in our present understanding of the development of the Universe is the complete absence of "primordial" antimatter from the Big Bang about 13.7 billion years ago.
