This collection describes the changing structure of employment during the period of robust employment expansion that preceded the credit crunch and features contributions from a team of leading labour market researchers from Europe and the United States. To what extent did European countries create 'more and better jobs' - as the EU's Lisbon agenda targeted - after 1995? And to what extent did employment growth in Europe between 1995-2007 reflect the pattern of growing good and bad jobs and a 'disappearing middle' identified in the US labour market? Addressing these questions, this collection describes the changing structure of jobs during the period of robust employment expansion that preceded the 2008 financial crisis.
