معرفی کتاب «Through Jaundiced Eyes: How the Media View Organized Labor (Cornell International Industrial and)» نوشتهٔ Puette, William، منتشرشده توسط نشر Cornell University Press در سال 2019. این کتاب در 4 صفحه، فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.
A ground-breaking study of the Hadrami community in Indonesia. The book considers the evolution of Indonesian Arab identity in the context of the rise of nationalism throughout Southeast Asia during the early twentieth century. For most of its history the American labor movement has taken adverse media coverage for granted. In 1977 Albert Zack, director of the AFL-CIO Department of Public Relations, delivered the best known and most official complaint about the media's treatment of the labor movement. His article in the federation's national newsletter described what most unionists have long understood as the prevailing press bias against labor. Zack took his examples primarily from mid-1970s coverage, though the history of the labor movement is replete with similar examples. One of the oldest recorded complaints in a similar vein appeared in a 1922 issue of the International Molders' Journal, which decried the unsympathetic treatment the American press gave to strikes: "Grasping this fine opportunity for news the big dailies get busy and start to lash the strikers through the blatant columns of their unreliable news sheets for the inconvenience and suffering they have brought upon the public.
