In The Science of Human Diversity, Richard Lynn gives an account of the research sponsored by the Pioneer Fund of New York. The Fund was established in 1937 by the textile millionaire Wickliffe Draper to support research in genetics, heredity and eugenics. Since its foundation, the Fund has sponsored much of the most significant research on genetic contributions to intelligence and personality. The work supported by the Fund has been on both the individual and race differences. The Fund has frequently been attacked for supporting work regarded as controversial. In this book, Lynn sets the record straight by providing a history of the individuals supported by the Fund and their work. "This book gives an interesting view into the minds of (mostly) men who believed in a kind of 19th century way of viewing human diversity..." (Trudy R. Turner, University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee American Journal of Human Biology) "This is a highly readable and informative book, full of interesting anecdotes, written from the perspective of an insider." (David St. Clair, University of Aberdeen Medical School Intelligence) "'The Science of Human Diversity' offers a wealth of detail on dysgenics, eugenics, and the biological bases of personality and race differences." (Ian Jobling American Renaissance) "Lynn's book includes a special preface written by Harry F. Weyher, the president of the Pioneer fund, on Weyher's years with the foundation, and Lynn's thumbnail biographies of the men and women who have received Pioneer funding over the years. As the first booklength account of the Fund, it is invaluable..." (Ian Dowbiggin, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada Journal of the History of the Behavioral Sciences) "There is no doubt, however, that with relatively small assets the Pioneer Fund has had a substantial impact in changing the face of social science in the latter part of the 20th century. Both Richard Lynn and Harry Weyher are to be commended for telling the story of the Pioneer Fund's record of accomplishment and the fund itself for the research it has bravely supported." (Personality and Individual Differences) Lynn Recounts His Days As President Of The Pioneer Fund, A Controversial Research Institute. The Fund Claims That Media Distortion Has Affected Its Studies Of Social Status And Intelligence In Terms Of Racial And Psychological Genetic Heritage.
