The Organizing Committee of the 15th International Conference on Bioactive Lipids in Cancer, Inflammation and Related Diseases compiled a group of junior investigators to provide reviews on the topics they presented at the Puerto Vallarta Bioactive Lipids conference, as part of the book series, __Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology (AEMB).__ The book in this series will be titled __Bioactive Lipids in Cancer, Inflammation and Related Diseases.__ Topics range from all classes of lipids including prostaglandins, resolvins, spingolipids, P450-derived lipids, endocannabanoids and phospholipids. The focus includes physiology, cell biology, and structural studies in organisms from bacteria to humans and how these studies addressed the role of lipids in various disease i.e. cancer, inflammation, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and others. Front Matter ....Pages i-ix Introduction (Kenneth V. Honn, Darryl C. Zeldin)....Pages 1-2 Understanding the Role of Pro-resolving Lipid Mediators in Infectious Keratitis (Elizabeth A. The major pathways of arachidonic acid and omega-3 fatty acid metabolism are represented, including cyclooxygenases, lipoxygenases, cytochrome P450 monooxygenases, specialized pro-resolving mediators, endocannabinoids, and ceramide and other sphingolipids. This book would be of great interest to basic and translational researchers, as well as physician-scientists working on selected topics (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, inflammation, etc.) in which the underlying role of lipid mediators in the pathophysiology is known or suspected. This compilation of peer-reviewed manuscripts represents reviews of timely topics presented at the 15th International Conference on Bioactive Lipids in Cancer, Inflammation and Related Diseases. Authors selected are outstanding junior investigators representative of future leaders in the field of bioactive lipids.
