The Rise and Rule of Tamerlane (Cambridge Studies in Islamic Civilization)

معرفی کتاب «The Rise and Rule of Tamerlane (Cambridge Studies in Islamic Civilization)» نوشتهٔ Beatrice Forbes Manz، منتشرشده توسط نشر Cambridge University Press (Virtual Publishing) در سال 1989. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

The great nomad conqueror Tamerlane rose to power in 1370 on the ruins of the Mongol Empire and led his armies to the conquest of much of its territory, from Russia to India, from Turkestan to Anatolia. He was the last such ruler to unite the settled and steppe regions of Eurasia, and his career thus marks a transition in the history of the Middle East and Inner Asia from the period of nomad conquest and rule to that of the ascendency of the settled world. In this book, the first full scholarly study of Tamerlane, Beatrice Forbes Manz examines Tamerlane as the founder of a nomad conquest dynasty, sharing many traits with earlier nomad leaders, and also as a supremely talented individual. Using Tamerlane's career to examine many questions of broad historical and anthropological interest, Dr Manz discusses the mechanisms of state formation, the dynamics of tribal politics, and the relations of tribes to central leadership. The study examines Tamerlane's methods of control over both nomad and settled, and the relations between the two groups under him - as well as his transformation of the political culture of the tribal confederation within which he rose to power. titul......Page 1 tit2......Page 2 viii......Page 4 x......Page 5 1......Page 6 2......Page 7 4......Page 8 6......Page 9 8......Page 10 10......Page 11 12......Page 12 14......Page 13 16......Page 14 18......Page 15 20......Page 16 22......Page 17 24......Page 18 26......Page 19 28......Page 20 30......Page 21 32......Page 22 34......Page 23 36......Page 24 38......Page 25 40......Page 26 42......Page 27 44......Page 28 46......Page 29 48......Page 30 50......Page 31 52......Page 32 54......Page 33 56......Page 34 58......Page 35 60......Page 36 62......Page 37 64......Page 38 66......Page 39 68......Page 40 70......Page 41 72......Page 42 74......Page 43 76......Page 44 78......Page 45 80......Page 46 82......Page 47 84......Page 48 86......Page 49 88......Page 50 90......Page 51 92......Page 52 94......Page 53 96......Page 54 98......Page 55 100......Page 56 102......Page 57 104......Page 58 106......Page 59 108......Page 60 110......Page 61 112......Page 62 114......Page 63 116......Page 64 118......Page 65 120......Page 66 122......Page 67 124......Page 68 126......Page 69 128......Page 70 130......Page 71 132......Page 72 134......Page 73 136......Page 74 138......Page 75 140......Page 76 142......Page 77 144......Page 78 146......Page 79 148......Page 80 150......Page 81 152......Page 82 154......Page 83 156......Page 84 158......Page 85 160......Page 86 162......Page 87 164......Page 88 166......Page 89 168......Page 90 170......Page 91 172......Page 92 174......Page 93 176......Page 94 178......Page 95 180......Page 96 182......Page 97 184......Page 98 186......Page 99 188......Page 100 190......Page 101 192......Page 102 194......Page 103 196......Page 104 198......Page 105 200......Page 106 202......Page 107 204......Page 108 206......Page 109 208......Page 110 210......Page 111 212......Page 112 214......Page 113 216......Page 114 218......Page 115 220......Page 116 222......Page 117 224......Page 118 226......Page 119 The Ulus Chaghatay In The Mid Fourteenth Century -- Tem 's Rise To Power: The Politics Of The Ulus Chaghatay -- Tem 's Army Of Conquest: The Ulus Chaghatay -- Tem 's Army Of Conquest: Outsiders And Conquered Peoples -- Structure And Function In Tem 's Administration -- The Struggle For Succession -- Conclusion -- Appendix A.
