معرفی کتاب «The Renin-Angiotensin System: Current Research Progress in The Pancreas: The RAS in the Pancreas (Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology, Vol. ... in Experimental Medicine and Biology, 690)» نوشتهٔ Po Sing Leung (auth.)، منتشرشده توسط نشر Springer Netherlands در سال 2010. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

The human pancreas has vital roles in the regulation of glucose homeostasis and digestion and its dysfunction leads to pancreatic disease as diabetes and pancreatitis. Recent researches have highlighted the novel roles of a local renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in the pancreas and its clinical relevances; its inapprporiate activation leads to pancreatic endocrine and exocrine disease, notably type 2 diabetes. As such, manipulation of the overactive RAS may improve pancreatic islet cell function, cell mass and insulin sensitivity, as well as enhancing the growth and differentiation of pancreatic stem cells. Blockade of the RAS may be protective against pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. The research outcome of current progress on the RAS in the pancreas should provide an alternative approach to preventing and treating, as well as curing pancreatic disease. This book discusses the progress of research on the renin-angiotensin system in the pancreas from the science to the bedside, providing a timely review of this expanding area. It consists of ten interrelated chapters covering subjects as: – Structure, physiology and disease of the pancreas – Biochemistry and physiology of the pancreatic renin-angiotensin system – RAS in diabetes, stem cells and pancreatitis This book is of special value to basic and clinical scientists, clinicians, graduate students, as well as novices in this field. Front Matter....Pages i-xvi Front Matter....Pages 1-1 Overview of the Pancreas....Pages 3-12 Physiology of the Pancreas....Pages 13-27 Common Pancreatic Disease....Pages 29-51 Front Matter....Pages 53-53 Circulating RAS....Pages 55-68 Local RAS....Pages 69-87 Pancreatic RAS....Pages 89-105 Front Matter....Pages 107-107 Basic Techniques for Pancreatic Research....Pages 109-130 Current Research of the RAS in Diabetes Mellitus....Pages 131-153 Current Research Concerning the RAS in Pancreatic Stem Cells....Pages 155-177 Current Research of the RAS in Pancreatitis and Pancreatic Cancer....Pages 179-199 Back Matter....Pages 201-207 Overview Of The Pancreas -- Physiology Of The Pancreas -- Common Pancreatic Disease -- Circulating Ras -- Local Ras -- Pancreatic Ras -- Basic Techniques For Pancreatic Research -- Current Research Of The Ras In Diabetes Mellitus -- Current Research Concerning The Ras In Pancreatic Stem Cells -- Current Research Of The Ras In Pancreatitis And Pancreatic Cancer. Po Sing Leung. Includes Bibliographical References And Index. Highlighting the role local renin-angiotensin systems (RAS) play in pancreatic disease, this review presents the latest research advances in the field. These findings suggest both preventative measures and treatment for pancreatic disease.
