The Other Side: A Memoir of a Young German Girl on the Other Side of War

Although urged by friends this has taken me years to write. It is all long ago now, and I think it is time we put the war behind us, and try to live together in peace. In this memoir I don't intend to dig too deeply into the historical facts, may of which have been covered by many authors from every possible angle. I'm writing down as much as I remember about what life was like during the war, because all these details will be lost once my generation dies out.Hannelore Mackenzie was born Hannelore Agnes Klara Kaiser in Leipzig, Germany in 1928. She attended school in Magdeburg while the country was in the grip of Hitler’s ruthless Nazi regime. During World War II she and her family had to struggle to survive. This is the story of that struggle.
