The Icon programming language (Prentice-Hall software series)

The Icon Programming Language is divided into four parts: Part I covers the basic features of Icon, including its basic string-processing facilities; it describes the subset of Icon that is similar in nature to several other programming languages. Part II introduces more advanced features, including generators, goal-directed evaluation, string scanning, and co-expressions. Part III is devoted to programming techniques—how to program with generators, string processing techniques, list processing, and so forth. Part IV presents several substantial Icon programs to illustrate how the features of Icon can be used in combination and how specific problems are handled. Appendix A summarizes the syntax of Icon.
