This book is considered an example of a large-scale historical study that provides a new insight on the history of Kuwait. The book aimed at balanc- ing between the research-based vision and the classical text overview mainly on the early historical works in addition to contemporary academic studies and references. This will offer the reader the opportunity to shape a concrete understanding of the historical events and develop a critical overview, whether traditional or contemporary. Moreover, the book covers various aspects and disciplines, such as histo- ry, politics, international relations, and sociology and sheds some light on the history of Kuwait since its establishment by Alutub clan Further- more, it bridges the gap between all of this and Kuwait's neighboring na- tions and empires, the nature of its administrative rule and rulers, the development of its society, its political landscape, independence, identi- ty and its formation since its foundation and the emergence of its self-gov- erning sovereignty until the Iraqi invasion in 1990. Indeed, the historical backgrounds and views are up for historical debate and will continue to do so as long as more historical documents and evidence are unearthed to confirm or refute the aforementioned coverage.
