معرفی کتاب «The hard ticks of the world : (Acari: Ixodida: Ixodidae)» نوشتهٔ Alberto A. Guglielmone, Richard G. Robbins, Dmitry A. Apanaskevich, Trevor N. Petney, Agustín Estrada-Peña, Ivan G. Horak (auth.)، منتشرشده توسط نشر Springer Netherlands Imprint: Springer در سال 2014. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

This book has been designed to summarize current, essential information for every one of the world’s 700 hard tick species. Under each species name, we will cite the original description, followed by information on type depositories, known stages, distribution (by zoogeographic region and ecoregion), hosts, and human infestation (if any). Each species account will also include a list of salient references and, where necessary, remarks on systematic status. We envision eight chapters: six devoted to the major ixodid tick genera (Amblyomma, Dermacentor, Haemaphysalis, Hyalomma, Ixodes, Rhipicephalus), one covering eight minor genera (including two that are fossil), and a concluding summary chapter. There will be two tables on host associations and zoogeography in each major genus chapter, as well as five tables in the summary chapter, for a total of 17 tables. No similar synopsis of the world’s hard tick species exists in any language. Preface 8 Acknowledgements 10 Contents 12 Introduction 15 References 20 Part I: The Genus Ixodes 22 Remarks on Some Invalid Names 23 References 24 Individual Species Accounts 25 Synopsis of the Genus Ixodes 228 Part II: The Genus Haemaphysalis 231 Remarks on Some Invalid Names 232 References 233 Individual Species Accounts 235 Synopsis of the Genus Haemaphysalis 377 Part III: The Genus Amblyomma 380 Remarks on Some Invalid Names 381 References 383 Individual Species Accounts 384 Synopsis of the Genus Amblyomma 530 Part IV: The Genus Rhipicephalus 534 Remarks on Some Invalid Names 535 References 535 Individual Species Accounts 536 Synopsis of the Genus Rhipicephalus 606 Part V: The Genus Dermacentor 609 General Comment and Remarks on an Invalid Name 610 References 610 Individual Species Accounts 611 Synopsis of the Genus Dermacentor 646 Part VI: The Genus Hyalomma 648 General Comment and Remarks on Some Invalid Names 649 References 649 Individual Species Accounts 651 Part VII: The Genera Anomalohimalaya, Bothriocroton, Cosmiomma, Compluriscutula, Cornupalpatum, Margaropus, Nosomma and Rhipicentor 684 The Genus Anomalohimalaya 685 The Genus Bothriocroton 688 The Genus Cosmiomma 695 References 696 The Genus Compluriscutula (Fossil) 697 Reference 697 The Genus Cornupalpatum (Fossil) 698 Reference 698 The Genus Margaropus 699 The Genus Nosomma 702 References 703 The Genus Rhipicentor 704 Part VIII: Synopsis 706 Addenda 706 Ticks Feeding on Humans 708 Distribution 710 Hosts 715 Species with Broad Distributions 723 References 724 Type Depository Acronyms 725 References 730 Front Matter....Pages i-xiii Introduction....Pages 1-7 Front Matter....Pages 9-9 Remarks on Some Invalid Names....Pages 11-12 Individual Species Accounts....Pages 13-218 Front Matter....Pages 219-219 Remarks on Some Invalid Names....Pages 221-223 Individual Species Accounts....Pages 225-369 Front Matter....Pages 371-371 Remarks on Some Invalid Names....Pages 373-375 Individual Species Accounts....Pages 377-526 Front Matter....Pages 527-527 Remarks on Some Invalid Names....Pages 529-529 Individual Species Accounts....Pages 531-603 Front Matter....Pages 605-605 General Comment and Remarks on an Invalid Name....Pages 607-607 Individual Species Accounts....Pages 609-645 Front Matter....Pages 647-647 General Comment and Remarks on Some Invalid Names....Pages 649-650 Individual Species Accounts....Pages 651-683 Front Matter....Pages 685-685 The Genus Anomalohimalaya ....Pages 687-689 The Genus Bothriocroton ....Pages 691-697 The Genus Cosmiomma ....Pages 699-700 The Genus Compluriscutula (Fossil)....Pages 701-701 The Genus Cornupalpatum (Fossil)....Pages 703-703 The Genus Margaropus ....Pages 705-707 The Genus Nosomma ....Pages 709-710 Front Matter....Pages 685-685 The Genus Rhipicentor ....Pages 711-712 Front Matter....Pages 713-714 Ticks Feeding on Humans....Pages 715-716 Distribution....Pages 717-721 Hosts....Pages 723-730 Species with Broad Distributions....Pages 731-732 Type Depository Acronyms....Pages 733-738 Hard ticks (family Ixodidae) are obligately blood-feeding ectoparasites of all classes of vertebrates except fishes. They occur worldwide and are preeminent among hematophagous arthropods for the variety of infectious agents that they transmit to humans and other animals. Because hard ticks have long been a focus of medical and veterinary research, the literature on this group is both voluminous and diffuse, with the result that those seeking information on a particular species are often at a loss as to where to turn. This book addresses that problem. Working as a team, six leading authorities on the Ixodidae have summarized current, essential information for every one of the world’s 700+ hard tick species. Under each species name, readers will find a discussion of the original taxonomic description, followed by sections on type depositories, known life history stages, distribution by zoogeographic region and ecoregion, principal and exceptional hosts, and human parasitism. Each species account concludes with a list of salient references and, where necessary, remarks on any unresolved issues warranting further research or important species-specific information, such as introductions into regions outside a species’ natural range or collections from novel hosts. No similar synopsis of the world’s hard tick species has ever been attempted Individual Species Accounts -- The Genus Compluriscutula (fossil) -- The Genus Cornupalpatum (fossil) -- Ticks Feeding On Humans.
