معرفی کتاب «The Exclusions of Civilization: Indigenous Peoples in the Story of International Society (The Palgrave Macmillan History of International Thought)» نوشتهٔ Mark Pearcey، منتشرشده توسط نشر Palgrave Macmillan US :Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan در سال 2016. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.
This book builds upon an inter-disciplinary body of literature to detail the centrality of European colonialism and imperialism in the constitution of modern international relations. A critical historical analysis that challenges conventional assumptions about the evolution and expansion of international society, it addresses the interconnections between the European and non-European sides of that history. Pearcey argues that features of European expansion were guided by a discourse on civilization, one that subsumed the uncivilized Other within the boundaries of the civilized Self. Doing so, civilization enabled a process of "exclusion by inclusion", whereby many of the world's indigenous peoples were gradually excluded from the "international" by being subsumed within the "domestic." Challenging conventional assumptions about the evolution and expansion of international society, especially those of the English School, this book contributes to central debates in International Relations theory.-- Provided by publisher "Dedication "--"Series Editor Foreword"--"Notes" -- "Preface" -- "Towards a Cross-Theoretical Dialogue" -- "Classification and Caricature" -- "On the Subjectâ#x80;#x93;Object Relationship" -- "Acknowledgments" -- "Contents" -- "Chapter 1: Introduction" -- "Civilization" -- "Westphalia and the Orthodox Account" -- "Focus and Historical Timeline" -- "Argumentation and Chapter Summaries" -- "Chapter Summaries" -- "Notes" -- "Chapter 2: Theoretical Framework" -- "Civilization and English School Analytics" -- "A Cross-Theoretical Dialogue" -- "Precedents" -- "Application" -- "Methodology" -- "Ethos" -- " Conclusion" -- "Notes" -- "Chapter 3: The Colonial Period" -- "A Note" -- "Vitorian Jurisprudence" -- "The Doctrine of Discovery" -- "The Marshall Court" -- "Conclusion" -- "Notes" -- "Chapter 4: The Imperial Period" -- "The Standard of Civilization and Indigenous Peoples" -- "Chief Levi General and the League of Nations" -- " Conclusion" -- "Notes" -- "Chapter 5: The Postcolonial Period" -- "Self-Determination" -- "Decolonization" -- "Indigenous Self-Determination" -- "Conclusion" -- "Notes" -- "Chapter 6: Conclusion" -- "Summary of Argument" -- "Implications" -- "A Cross-Theoretical Dialogue" -- "â#x80;Exclusion by Inclusionâ#x80;#x99;" -- "Decolonizing International Relations" -- "Civilization and Its Legacies" -- "Notes" -- "References."
