The revisions take account of new developments, such as the slimfloor and parallel beam frame, and the latest provisions of the Building Regulations. Up to the latter part of the nineteenth century the majority of single-storey buildings were of traditional construction with timber, brick or stone walls supporting timber-framed roofs covered with slate or tile.
