The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran consists of one introduction, 14 chapters and 177 articles. According to the Constitution, Islamic Republic of Iran is ruled based on Islamic beliefs and its legitimacy comes from the concept of Wilayate Faqih and people's vote. The country is ruled by people through holding free elections. The leader, being as just jurisprudents, of the country is elected indirectly by people's vote through the Experts Council. The ruling powers in Iran are: the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary. Members of the Islamic Parliament of Iran as well as the president are elected through the polls. The Guardian Council of the Constitution consisting of lawyers and jurisprudents supervise the decisions made by the Parliament so that such decisions are based on Islamic laws.
