Until very recently, the contribution of women to the history of rhetoric has gone unacknowledged. Current scholarship, however, reveals that traditional devinitions of the field have been too narrow, excluding the work of women rhetoricians. Topics include Plato's women, the ongoing appeal of St. Catherine of Siena, Lady Mary Wroth's Urania and the rhetoric of female abuse, and feminist thoughts on rhetoric.
