I am a lover of all Russian literature and for some reason cannot put my finger on exactly why. There is such complexity in Dostoevskii that one gains from scholars that study him extensively. In order to understand Russian literature, one must understand the author, the political and year in which it was written. It is imperative that you try and gain an understanding of the culture of the Russian people in this period and the fear factor of living in Russia.
