Biologists from all the inhabited continents found their way to the conference. The 49 papers selected for publication represent a cross-section of current research in all areas of seed biology, ecology, and technology and of the emerging technologies used to investigate such matters. Within sections on seed development, germination and dormancy, desiccation and other stress tolerances and conservation, ecology, and biotechnology, they discuss such topics as seed quality development in wrinkled-seeded mutant peas, a physiological approach to studying the involvement of energy metabolism and ABA and primary and secondary dormancies in oat seeds, germination deferment strategies, and physico-chemical factors influencing beet seed germination.
