The opening of the borders to Eastern Europe has expanded our view on European diversities and offered new opportunities to examine the effects of the heterogeneity in European cultural backgrounds and political systems on personality and social development. This book is a first step in utilizing the rich cultural resource offered by the large number of cultural units represented in Europe and--at least in part--in the United States. One way to understand the life conditions of adolescents in different countries is to study what they actually do in everyday life and how much time they spend on what types of activities. This book also provides essential and new information about individual and societal priorities and values. Toward this end, the "Euronet" scientists set up a postdoctoral training workshop on adolescent psychology for 10 selected American and 10 selected European participants. The Euronet project comprises 13 different samples--six stemming from Middle and Eastern European countries (Bulgaria, the Czechoslovakian Federal Republic, Hungary, Poland, Russia, and Romania), six from Western European countries (Finland, France, Germany, Norway, French, and German Switzerland), and one from the United States (Michigan). This book reports the results of this large, cross-national, longitudinal study of adolescents and the world(s) in which they live, and is offered to all those who have an interest in adolescence and/or the diversity of Europe. Readers will learn about hundreds of features of adolescence which are more or less characteristic of the cultures, ages, and genders. test cover 1 page_i 2 page_ii 3 page_iii 4 page_iv 6 page_v 8 page_vi 10 page_vii 11 page_viii 13 page_ix 14 page_x 16 page_1 18 page_2 20 page_3 22 page_4 24 page_5 26 page_6 28 page_7 30 page_8 32 page_9 34 page_10 36 page_11 38 page_12 40 page_13 42 page_14 45 page_15 47 page_16 49 page_17 51 page_18 53 page_19 55 page_20 57 page_21 59 page_22 61 page_23 63 page_24 65 page_25 67 page_26 69 page_27 71 page_28 73 page_29 76 page_30 78 page_31 80 page_32 82 page_33 84 page_34 86 page_35 88 page_36 90 page_37 92 page_38 94 page_39 96 page_40 98 page_41 100 page_42 101 page_43 103 page_44 105 page_45 106 page_46 108 page_47 109 page_48 111 page_49 113 page_50 115 page_51 117 page_52 119 page_53 121 page_54 123 page_55 125 page_56 127 page_57 129 page_58 131 page_59 133 page_60 136 page_61 137 page_62 139 page_63 141 page_64 143 page_65 144 page_66 146 page_67 148 page_68 150 page_69 152 page_70 154 page_71 156 page_72 158 page_73 160 page_74 162 page_75 164 page_76 166 page_77 168 page_78 170 page_79 172 page_80 174 page_81 176 page_82 178 page_83 180 page_85 182 page_86 184 page_87 186 page_88 188 page_89 190 page_90 192 page_91 194 page_92 196 page_93 197 page_94 199 page_95 201 page_96 203 page_97 205 page_98 208 page_99 210 page_100 212 page_101 214 page_102 216 page_103 218 page_104 220 page_105 222 page_106 224 page_107 226 page_108 228 page_109 230 page_110 232 page_111 234 page_112 236 page_113 238 page_115 240 page_116 242 page_117 244 page_118 246 page_119 248 page_120 250 page_121 252 page_122 254 page_123 256 page_124 258 page_125 260 page_126 262 page_127 264 page_128 266 page_129 268 page_130 271 page_131 273 page_132 275 page_133 277 page_134 279 page_135 281 page_136 283 page_137 285 page_138 287 page_139 289 page_140 291 page_141 293 page_142 295 page_143 297 page_144 300 page_145 301 page_146 303 page_147 305 page_148 307 page_149 309 page_150 311 page_151 312 page_152 314 page_153 316 page_154 318 page_155 320 page_156 321 page_157 323 page_158 325 page_159 327 page_160 329 page_161 331 page_162 333 page_163 335 page_164 337 page_165 338 page_166 340 page_167 342 page_168 344 page_169 346 page_170 348 page_171 350 page_172 352 page_173 354 page_174 356 page_175 358 page_177 359 page_178 363 page_179 368 page_181 372 page_182 375 Cross-national Research In Adolescent Psychology: The Euronet Project / Francoise D.
