Bruce McKenzie, a charter diving boat owner/skipper operating out of the picturesque harbour of Tutukaka, New Zealand, is on the losing end. His girlfriend has left him, his business partner has ripped him off and left the business mortally wounded, and the local fisheries officer seems to have a personal grudge against him. Turning to increasingly illegal, extracurricular activities to keep his operation afloat, Bruce finds himself inexorably drawn into a spiral of dangerous associations and serious crime.
