Survivability Options for the Next-Generation Air Maneuver and Transport: Analytic Support to the Army Science Board

As the Army continues along the transformation path, it is becoming increasingly dependent on new approaches for conducting ground warfare. This monograph summarizes research in support of the 2002 Army Science Board's Aviation Study. The study aimed to explore and assess survivability concepts and technologies associated with future heavy-lift transport aircraft that could be used to make possible new operational maneuver options for the Army's future force. The results of this research are included in the final briefing and report produced by the Army Science Board; this monograph provides a detailed account of the specific survivability research, and it includes information on scenario, methodology, and the analytic findings.
