This is the third edition of Summits and Icefields. For almost twenty years this guidebook has been helping ski mountaineers find some of the best backcountry skiing on the planet. In this book is information on some of the best and most popular tours in the Rocky Mountains. There are many tours and descents that have not been included, as we have chosen only the classics. Remember also that this book covers a huge area. The two volumes of Summits and Icefields cover an area larger than the entire European Alps. Consequently, this guidebook does not go into as much detail as guides to smaller areas. All the information needed to open the door is presented here, but to walk through the door you must be prepared to do some further research on your own.
