Streamflow Synthesis

This first book-length summary of techniques for generating synthetic hydrologic records for use in simulation of water-resource systems contains much new material devoted to a systematic examination of the storage–yield relation. The simulation approach proposed here presents as an essential feature the use of operational traces of hydrologic record. Although discussion is limited to streamflow analysis, the mathematical formalisms also apply to a wide variety of hydrometeorological phenomena and the general method is valid for many kinds of storage problems.
