(A Goodreads comment) This book is an anthology of three original novellas and was published as a non-numbered adjunct to del Rey's Stellar series. Gordon R. Dickson contributed a good Loch Ness story (which is illustrated by the fine Darrell K. Sweet cover), andrew j. offutt is represented by one of his rare straight science fiction stories (which is also a fine detective story), and the longest story is by Richard S. Weinstein, a very good and thoughtful hard-science story about DNA research and interstellar exploration. Altogether a fine read, one of the best in the series.
