This self-study program was developed by Alan Wilson, formerly Professor of the Navajo language at the University of New Mexico, Gallup Branch, with the assistance of native Navajo speakers. Parts of the recording were done in the field rather than in a professional studio, so there are background noises in the recordings that cannot be eliminated. The voices of the speakers, however, are clear. This program assumes the learner has some command of basic Navajo structures and lexicon. The methodology of the program rests upon the use of vocabulary and structures relative to topics of daily living such as weaving, animal husbandry, tribal government, and planting Presents Navajo language instruction; covers vocabulary and structures, including present, past, and future verb tenses, related to areas of Navajo life and culture such as weaving, animal husbandry, tribal government, and planting.
