This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th IFIP WG 10.2 International Workshop on Software Technologies for Future Embedded and Ubiquitous Systems, SEUS 2009, held in Newport Beach, CA, USA, in November 2009. The 20 revised full papers presented together with three invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions for inclusion in the book. The papers address all current issues in embedded and distributed computing, ubiquitous systems, sensor networks, and middleware with a special respect of dependability, real-time, human-computer interaction, autonomy, resource constraints, etc. Front Matter....Pages - Design and Implementation of an Operational Flight Program for an Unmanned Helicopter FCC Based on the TMO Scheme....Pages 1-11 Energy-Efficient Process Allocation Algorithms in Peer-to-Peer Systems....Pages 12-23 Power Modeling of Solid State Disk for Dynamic Power Management Policy Design in Embedded Systems....Pages 24-35 Optimizing Mobile Application Performance with Model–Driven Engineering....Pages 36-46 A Single-Path Chip-Multiprocessor System....Pages 47-57 Towards Trustworthy Self-optimization for Distributed Systems....Pages 58-68 An Experimental Framework for the Analysis and Validation of Software Clocks....Pages 69-81 Towards a Statistical Model of a Microprocessor’s Throughput by Analyzing Pipeline Stalls....Pages 82-90 Joining a Distributed Shared Memory Computation in a Dynamic Distributed System....Pages 91-102 BSART (Broadcasting with Selected Acknowledgements and Repeat Transmissions) for Reliable and Low-Cost Broadcasting in the Mobile Ad-Hoc Network....Pages 103-113 DPDP: An Algorithm for Reliable and Smaller Congestion in the Mobile Ad-Hoc Network....Pages 114-120 Development of Field Monitoring Server System and Its Application in Agriculture....Pages 121-130 On-Line Model Checking as Operating System Service....Pages 131-143 Designing Highly Available Repositories for Heterogeneous Sensor Data in Open Home Automation Systems....Pages 144-155 Fine-Grained Tailoring of Component Behaviour for Embedded Systems....Pages 156-167 MapReduce System over Heterogeneous Mobile Devices....Pages 168-179 Towards Time-Predictable Data Caches for Chip-Multiprocessors....Pages 180-191 From Intrusion Detection to Intrusion Detection and Diagnosis: An Ontology-Based Approach....Pages 192-202 Model-Based Testing of GUI-Driven Applications....Pages 203-214 Parallelizing Software-Implemented Error Detection....Pages 215-226 Model-Based Analysis of Contract-Based Real-Time Scheduling....Pages 227-239 Exploring the Design Space for Network Protocol Stacks on Special-Purpose Embedded Systems....Pages 240-251 HiperSense: An Integrated System for Dense Wireless Sensing and Massively Scalable Data Visualization....Pages 252-263 Applying Architectural Hybridization in Networked Embedded Systems....Pages 264-275 Concurrency and Communication: Lessons from the SHIM Project....Pages 276-287 Location-Aware Web Service by Utilizing Web Contents Including Location Information....Pages 288-295 The GENESYS Architecture: A Conceptual Model for Component-Based Distributed Real-Time Systems....Pages 296-307 Approximate Worst-Case Execution Time Analysis for Early Stage Embedded Systems Development....Pages 308-319 Using Context Awareness to Improve Quality of Information Retrieval in Pervasive Computing....Pages 320-331 An Algorithm to Ensure Spatial Consistency in Collaborative Photo Collections....Pages 332-342 Real-Sense Media Representation Technology Using Multiple Devices Synchronization....Pages 343-353 Overview of Multicore Requirements towards Real-Time Communication....Pages 354-364 Lifting the Level of Abstraction Dealt with in Programming of Networked Embedded Computing Systems....Pages 365-376 Back Matter....Pages - The 7th IFIP Workshop on Software Technologies for Future Embedded and Ubiquitous Systems (SEUS) followed on the success of six previous editions in Capri, Italy (2008), Santorini, Greece (2007), Gyeongju, Korea (2006), Seattle, USA (2005), Vienna, Austria (2004), and Hokodate, Japan (2003), establishing SEUS as one of the emerging workshops in the ?eld of embedded and ubiq- tous systems. SEUS 2009 continued the tradition of fostering cross-community scienti?c excellence and establishing strong links between researchand industry. The ?elds of both embedded computing and ubiquitous systems have seen considerable growth over the past few years. Given the advances in these ?elds, and also those in the areas of distributed computing, sensor networks, midd- ware, etc. , the area of ubiquitous embedded computing is now being envisioned as the wayof the future. The systems and technologies that will arise in support of ubiquitous embedded computing will undoubtedly need to address a variety of issues, including dependability, real-time, human–computer interaction, - tonomy, resource constraints, etc. All of these requirements pose a challenge to the research community. The purpose of SEUS 2009 was to bring together - searchersand practitioners with an interest in advancing the state of the artand the state of practice in this emerging ?eld, with the hope of fostering new ideas, collaborations and technologies. SEUS 2009 would not have been possible without the e?ort of many people.
