The aim of the book is to offer a general overview of the use of feminine praenomina with an analysis aimed at a study that includes the various levels of Roman society with reference to different places and ages (Republican and Imperial Ages). The study thus focuses its interest not only on women of senatorial rank or belonging to the local aristocracy but also on common characters from remote provinces. While taking into consideration every type of ancient source, attention is particularly centered on the immense quantity of epigraphic or papyrological material that the ancient world has left us.
