Annotation This publication describes major developments affecting fisheries in OECD countries, including government financial transfers and policies, international trade, fisheries status and management, aquaculture production, post-harvesting policies and practices. This edition contains a special chapter on economic and social sustainability indicators for fisheries. Findings include that world total fish production in 2000 was estimated at a record 141.8 million tonnes, of which 32 per cent came from aquaculture.
