Re-Living the Second Chimurenga: Memories from Zimbabwe's Liberation Struggle
معرفی کتاب «Re-Living the Second Chimurenga: Memories from Zimbabwe's Liberation Struggle» نوشتهٔ Fay King Chung، منتشرشده توسط نشر Nordic Africa Institute ; Weaver Press در سال 2006. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.
In her memoirs, Fay Chung presents her first-hand experience of the Zimbabwean liberation struggle and the reforms of the country’s educational system, which followed. She gives her personal interpretation of Zimbabwe’s trajectory over the last thirty years from a nationalist uprising, through the promises of the first independent government, to the present turmoil of land invasions, new democratic challenges, and political violence. Chung’s memoirs--in many ways controversial--offer a valuable and thought-provoking introduction to modern Zimbabwean history and burning issues in the contemporary politics of Southern Africa. This book will be of great interest, not only to students and researchers, but also to a wider group of readers concerned with politics and development in Africa and with the Zimbabwean experiment in social transformation from the 1970s to the present. This edition of Fay Chung’s memoirs has an introduction by Preben Kaarsholm--an experienced Danish Zimbabwe scholar--that situates her narrative and reflections in the context of debates around Zimbabwe’s modern history and current political and economical crisis. Fay Chung Grew Up In A Chinese Family In Rhodesia In The 1950s And 1960s. In Zambia, She Joined The Zimbabwe African National Union (zanu), And Took Part In The Radicalisation Of The Nationalist Rising, Which Led To Zimbabwe's Independence In 1980. The Memoirs Of Fay Chung Give An Inside View Of The Divisions Within Zanu During The Late 1970s. She Witnessed The Change Of Leadership From Sithole To Mugabe, Experienced The Tensions Between Politicians And Military Leaders, As Well As The Rise And Fall Of The Vashandi Movement, Which Tried To Change The Direction Of Zanu In A More Socialist Direction. Fay Chung Also Reflects On The Ongoing Crisis In Zimbabwe. While Regretting The Violence, She Is Critical Of The New Democratic Opposition, And Supports Robert Mugabe's 'third Chimurenga' As A Return To The Objectives Of Land Reform And Economic Justice, Which She Sees As The 'heartblood' Of The Liberation Struggle. This Is An Account, Which Will Be Certain To Provoke Many Readers, And Which Will Stimulate Discussions Both Within Zimbabwe And Abroad. This Edition Includes An Introduction By Preben Kaarsholm, Which Situates Fay Chung's Narrative In The Context Of Ongoing Debates About Zimbabwe.--book Jacket.
