Radiation protection in pediatric radiology : recommendations of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements

The purpose of this report is to make available a source of practical information regarding the manner in which radiologic examinations in children should be conducted to reduce the radiation dose to these patients and those responsible for their care. The report addresses radiation protection problems as they apply to the examination of children and the differences, radiographically speaking, between children and adults; it suggests the guidelines to follow in determining whether or not a particular radiographic study should be performed, and describes, in detail, the various techniques for reducing exposure.
