A broad treatment of Freud's impact on British modernism focusing on themes of The Unconscious, The Psychoanalytic Romance, The Sense of the Past, The Biographical Imperative and on the authors D. H. Lawrence and Aldous Huxley. "Literature from the 'political' 1930s has often been read in contrast to the 'aesthetic' 1920s. This collection suggests a different approach.
