Programming languages : structures and models

Programming language theory in the context of a language model (paradigm) and one or more example languages for each of the five important paradigms are presented in this text. The basic principles of programming languages are documented so that students can effectively use current and future languages. Formal paradigms provide a bridge between programming language theory and the abundance of actual languages used as models throughout the text. The book is structured to allow for a variety of course organizations and emphases. A first course in programming languages for undergraduates, presenting the fundamental features and concepts common to all programming languages.
