An excellent source of reference on the current practice of physical modelling in geotechnics and environmental engineering. Volume One concentrates on physical modelling facilities and experimental techniques, soil characterisation, slopes, dams, liquefaction, ground improvement and reinforcement, offshore foundations and anchors, and pipelines. Volume Two includes papers that focus on shallow and piled foundations, retaining structures, tunnelling, geoenvironment, complex process modelling and comparisons of results from 1-g to high-g physical modelling, numerical modelling and full-scale testing. Die Wiederherstellung der Akkommodationsfähigkeit nach Katarakt-Operation oder im Falle der Presbyopie ist ein ungelöstes Problem der Ophthalmologie.In der Arbeit wird die Struktur für ein implantierbares mechatronisches System (""Künstliches Akkommodationssystem"") entwickelt. Je nachdem, ob Umweltinformation oder körpereigene efferente Signale zur Ermittlung des Akkommodationsbedarfs genutzt werden, wird eine autonome von einer kooperierenden Systemvariante unterschieden. Mittels einer auf dem paraxialen Abbildungsmodell beruhenden, neu entwickelten Methodik werden unterschiedliche Wirkprinzipien für aktiv-optische Elemente auf einheitliche Weise untersucht und unter Heranziehung experimenteller Ergebnisse bewertet. Eine vergleichende Gegenüberstellung zeigt, daß nach gegenwärtigem Erkenntnisstand das Prinzip der Fluidlinse und das Alvarez-Humphrey-Prinzip die gestellten Anforderungen am besten erfüllen The book describes the hydraulic design and environmental impact prediction technologies for such installations.
