## Presentation of pioneer awards Today's extensive application of diagnostic ultrasound in ophthalmology is based on the initial results of A-and B-mode echography. The names of two of our members particularly stand for pioneering work in the development of these techniques: that of ARVO OKSALA for A-mode, and of GILBERT BAUM for B-mode echography. SIDUO earlier recognized the merits of these men by bestowing Honorary Memberships upon both of them. The SIDUO Executive Board decided to emphasize the important aspects of their work in the history of diagnostic ultrasound by bestowing upon them the SIDUO PIONEER AWARD.
