She left the table, and by the time I managed to get away from the reporters, shed taken a cab back to the house, grabbed her suitcase, and headed for the airport. I took a drink of my Campari and soda. I called, texted, even emailed her. She wont talk to me. 2 -- Tatum I knew I shouldnt do it, but I couldnt resist. I rolled over and felt around on the nightstand for my phoneits ring disturbing my sleep on one of the very few mornings when I could sleep late. Smiling as I remembered the previous nights phone call, I hoped Reed was on the other end of the line, calling to tell me when his flight arrived. I didnt recognize the number, but it was from a Las Vegas area code. Hello? I croaked. 5 -- Reed Hey, sexy, I said, thrilled to see Tatums name on my phone. 6 -- Tatum I was just about to leave the office to pick up some lunch when the phone at my desk rang. I looked at it, a little surprised because the office phones hardly ever rang. In fact, Id wondered why we even had phones on the desk, but my boss had shushed me right away and told me one of the partners was a bit of a Luddite. Apparently hed have preferred it if we sent smoke signals to our colleagues and clients. I laughed as I wondered how he handled email. 7 -- Reed I rolled over and picked up my phone to check the time. The light from the screen hurt my eyes in the darkened hotel room, and I was surprised to see how late it was. 8 -- Tatum Not only did I have almost more work than I could handle at my job, working on a new case we thought could make the firm some serious money and improve the working conditions for all tipped employees in the state of Nevada, but also had my hands full outside of work, too. Stanford and I had met a couple more times, racking our brains trying to think of some way to publicly trip Tina up and get Donald to see her for who she really was. Add to that the fact that Garrett had decided he had a thing for Stanfordthe man who still became tongue-tied every time my roommate walked in the roomand I hadnt even had a moment to think about Reed, at least not until I opened my laptop with my morning coffee before work. 9 -- Reed When Tatum walked back out into the kitchen it took every bit of willpower I had not to pick her up, tear off her clothes, and make love to her right then and there. Even in a ripped up sweatshirt she was gorgeous. Having spent the last few weeks with beautiful women who spent all their time and money trying to look like every mans fantasy, I realized the true beauty of a woman who looked gorgeous right out of the shower. Tatum didnt have to do anything to make herself pretty. She radiated health and intelligence, and I was absolutely crazy about her. 10 -- Tatum I looked at Reed, my feelings a tangled mess. My heart was still racing from my orgasm, and I could still feel the perfect ache of his cock deep inside me. I wanted to make love to him again, but I knew it was foolish to let sex overrule logic. 11 -- Reed I could tell my mother was drunk as soon as I opened the door. 12 -- Tatum When I woke up, I wasnt exactly sure where I was for a moment. After Id left my dad in his study, Stanford and I had agreed to talk in the morning. Id crashed in one of the spare bedrooms and had a terrible time getting to sleep, flooded by doubt about how Id handled things with Reed. 13 -- Reed I couldnt believe my eyes when I walked out onto Donalds terrace and found him, Tatum, and my fucking father sitting around laughing like theyd known one another forever. 14 -- Tatum Shhh, I said, opening the door to Reed.
