Of Permanent Value: The Story of Warren Buffett (Part I)

A completely revised and updated biography, this is the latest in a series published every year or two about investor Warren Buffett. The 2012 Odyssey edition is also available as a three-volume Kindle Select ebook. The book has 1,268 pages and more than 1,800 photos, hundreds of which are in color. The 339 chapters open with one about Buffett's more than $10 billion investment in IBM. Other chapters are about Todd Combs and Ted Weschler, Buffett's two picks to be Berkshire Hathaway's investment managers. The front cover shows a photo of Buffett in 1951. Surrounding him are a few of Berkshire's products for modern odysseys -- a Burlington Northern train, a NetJets aircraft and a BYD electric car. The back cover shows Berkshire's employees -- all of them -- who work at headquarters in Omaha as well as Buffett's assistant, Debbie Bosanek, who famously has a higher tax rate than Buffett. Also, it sports a tongue-in-cheek plaque next to a Burlington Northern bridge in honor of Buffett's partner, Charles Munger. The third photo is of the 2010 IBM Annual Report which Buffett read and then decided to take a big stake in Big Blue.
