Of Pandas and People, published by the Foundation for Thought and Ethics, presumes to be the authoritative textbook on Intelligent Design. Nearly a third of the book is a summary of actual content in the later two-thirds; thus, an already slim book (~170 pg) is made even smaller. Chapters are divided into subtopics within the field of evolution (Origin of Life, Macroevolution/Speciation, etc.). At the end of each chapter the authors provide some references, and some of these references actually come from reputable sources (eg. Science, Nature, etc.). Actual content within the book is entirely destructive and critical with no attempt to offer satisfying alternatives to evolutionary science. There is no discussion on the philosophy of science, no mention of scientific methods. This book is very short. Evolution is a huge field that incorporates widely disparate fields, from ecology and population biology to molecular and cellular biology. A textbook attempting to debase a 150 year-old field of science needs to try a little harder. There was a time when people believed some animals arose on their own, full-blown, from non-living matter.
