Catalogue of a selection of artisan dolls from the holdings of the Museo Nacional de Cultura Peruana (National Museum of Peruvian Culture). The largest and most antique collection of dolls of the museum that "Unlike other folkart objects collected by the IAP for the Museum, these dolls were made upon request of the State (...) The history of folkart in Peru reflects the conflicts and negotiations between the elite, the town people and the State; between the academy and the creation of the empirical bases. In the case of the artisan dolls, this is the history of external influences. That is why these dolls are not toys; they are documents that narrate some episodes of the social and political history of Peru. The production of dolls is accounted as one of the artisan manufacture with the highest index of exportation in Peru."
