O arco e o fuzil: alteridade e relação no cotidiano dos Tukano de Pari-Cachoeira

The book is the result of anthropological research on the relationships of the Tukano (self-named Ye'pâ Masa) of Pari-Cachoeira, Brazilian Amazon, with its many “whites”: bosses, missionaries, soldiers, anthropologists, politicians, and many others who permeate the universe of relationships interethnic groups in the Upper Rio Negro region, but with greater investment in the military. It is impossible to talk about the coexistence strategies these Tukano establish with the Brazilian Army soldiers, with whom they co-inhabit, due to the sharing of their territory with a platoon, not to mention how these were forged over centuries with this network of contact agents that preceded them, with the first soldiers who arrived in the territory, still in the 17th century, or with the various religious orders that reached and established missions among them, or even with how they receive and interact with a myriad of State agents such as doctors, researchers, teachers, politicians, etc.
