Neuroendocrine Control of the Thymus (Neuroimmunomodulation, 1-2)

Examining neuroendocrine control of the thymus, this volume investigates the use of neuroendocrine hormones to promote reconstitution after bone marrow transplantation; thymic expression of the the pancreatic endocrine hormones; and the role of ageing in the immune-endocrine loop and thymus-pituitary axis. Thymic tissues, thymic stroma and thymulin cells feature prominently in respect of animal testing, and regeneration of the thymus. The thymus, which plays a vital role in the control of the immune system, is looked at from different angles such as the immune-neuroendocrine network from development to aging, the selection process of developing T cells, and the interdependence of the neuroendocrine and immune systems and their communication circuitries.
