Naufraghi senza volto : dare un nome alle vittime del Mediterraneo

Il corpo di un ragazzo con in tasca un sacchetto di terra del suo paese, l'Eritrea; quello di un altro, proveniente dal Ghana, con addosso una tessera della biblioteca; i resti di un bambino che veste ancora un giubbotto la cui cucitura interna cela la pagella scolastica scritta in arabo e in francese. Sono i corpi delle vittime del Mediterraneo, morti nel tentativo di arrivare nel nostro paese su barconi fatiscenti, che raccontano di come si può "morire di speranza". A molte di queste vittime è stata negata anche l'identità. L'emergenza umanitaria di migranti che attraversano il Mediterraneo ha restituito alle spiagge europee decine di migliaia di cadaveri, oltre la metà dei quali non sono mai stati identificati. Il libro racconta, attraverso il vissuto di un medico legale, il tentativo di un paese di dare un nome a queste vittime dimenticate da tutti, e come questi corpi, più eloquenti dei vivi, testimonino la violenza e la disperazione del nostro tempo. They are the bodies of the victims of the Mediterranean, who died trying to get to our country on ramshackle boats, which tell how one can "die of hope". Identity was also denied to many of these victims.
