Napoleon, as a young artilleryman, was trained with the Gribeauval system, created to standardize the French field artillery. This work deals with 4-, 8- and 12-pdr guns, light 1-pdr guns and later innovations such as the 6-pdr gun, which were used by Napoleon in Italy, Germany and Austria. The phrase 'Napoleon's Guns' brings to mind the French field artillery present all the famous battles fought by the French armies from the early 1790s to 1815.
