معرفی کتاب «Multihazard Issues in the Central United States : Understanding the Hazards and Reducing the Losses : ASCE Council on Disaster Risk Management, Monograph Number 3» نوشتهٔ Beavers, James E، منتشرشده توسط نشر American Society of Civil Engineers در سال 2009. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.
As part of an ongoing mission to disseminate information about acceptable risk processes, ASCE's Council on Disaster Risk Management convened a symposium in 2006 on the natural and technological hazards occurring in the central United States, specifically Missouri, Illinois, and Tennessee. The collected papers cover frequent natural hazards - including floods, heat, winter storms, thunderstorms, earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, landslides, and tornadoes - as well as frequent technological hazards - including hazardous materials, nuclear incidents, dam failures, and terrorism. Papers briefly identify governmental regulations and describe details of major natural and technological hazards. This monograph outlines some of the more important issues that should be addressed in the development of comprehensive national and state hazard plans and action scenarios. This publication is invaluable to engineers involved in disaster risk assessment and mitigation, lifelines, and owners and operators of public and private infrastructure systems Content: Observations on Steps Toward Mitigating the Effects of Natural and Technological Hazards in the Central United States -- An Introduction / James E. Beavers and William J. Hall -- Keynote Paper. A Changing Perspective -- Major Challenges / William J. Hall -- The Context for Successful Loss Reduction from Natural and Technological Hazards as Applied to the Central and Eastern United States / W.P. Graf -- Thermoplastic Composite Structural Insulated Panels (CSIPS) for Building Construction / N. Uddin, A. Vaidya and U. Vaidya -- A New Mitigation Strategy-The Tennessee Multihazard Mitigation Consortium (TMMC) / James E. Beavers -- How Communities Implement Successful Mitigation Programs: Insights From the Multihazard Mitigation Council (MMC) Community Study / Elliott Mittler, Linda Bourque, Michele M. Wood and Craig Taylor -- Achieving Risk Reductions in Critical Infrastructure Systems / Richard G. Little -- The Unknown Seismic Hazard in East Tennessee and Potential Losses / Christine A. Powell and James E. Beavers -- Frequency of Hailstorms and the Resulting Damage in the Central United States / Douglas L. Dewey and Rosemarie G. Grant. Prepared by the Council on Disaster Risk Management of ASCE.
