Mordred was the first of four authorized sequels to Philip Francis Nowlan’s two original Buck Rogers novellas, Armageddon - 2419 A.D. (Amazing Stories, August 1928) and The Airlords Of Han (Amazing Stories, March 1929). The four novels were published between 1980 and 1983 by Ace Books and were written by various authors from outlines supplied by SF authors Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. Although the first two books were published during the run of the Buck Rogers In The 25th Century television series (September 20, 1979-April 16, 1981), there was no direct connection between the program and these books. In fact, the name "Buck Rogers" never appears in any of them. As in the original stories, the hero’s name is Anthony Rogers. The other titles (and authors) in the series were: Warrior’s Blood (1981) and Warrior’s World (1981) by Richard S. McEnroe, and Rogers’ Rangers (1983) by John Silbersack. In Mordred, set fifty years after the events of the previous novellas, Anthony Rogers must stop a new invasion by the evil Han Airlords, led by Prince Mordred.
