Material Safety Data Sheet User's Guide

The purpose of this guide is to facilitate the understanding & use of the information provided on a material safety data sheet. It lists the categories of information that are required to be on the sheet and explains the content of each category, using examples for further clarification. These categories include: information to identify the product, when the sheet was prepared, and who was responsible for preparing it; hazardous ingredients; physical data such as appearance, density, and solubility; fire or explosion hazard; chemical reactivity data; toxicological properties; protective measures, including protective equipment, controls, handling, and storage; and first aid measures. The final section outlines regulations related to hazardous materials in the workplace.
